1. Application in unsaturated polyester In glass fiber reinforced unsaturated polyester casting plastics (such as various high-voltage or low-voltage electrical switches), aluminum hydroxide is used as filler to make plastic products flame retardant and smoke-free properties and arc resistance. Aluminum hydroxide is also used in FRP laminates, such as FRP tiles, pipes, storage tanks, etc., and has a good flame retardant effect.

2. Application in epoxy resin In epoxy resin, aluminum hydroxide has a flame retardant effect, the dosage is 40%~60%, the oxygen index is twice as high as that of unfilled epoxy resin, and it also enhances the resistance to Arc resistance and arc resistance. The epoxy resin filled with aluminum hydroxide has a very bright future in the production of transformers, insulating equipment, switchgear and so on.

3. Application in cross-linked polyethylene and ethylene-propylene rubber cables In these polymers, the flame retardancy can be improved due to the filling of alumina, and it has excellent electrical insulation properties, so it has been widely used.

4. Latex rubber and carboxylated latex adhesives used in latex and adhesives for carpet padding are relatively early markets for aluminum hydroxide, and the consumption in this regard is still at a high level. It also replaces calcium carbonate and clay with little flame retardant ability as flame retardant fillers in precoating, adhesives and foam materials. Generally, 100 parts of latex add 20 to 150 parts of aluminum hydroxide with a particle size of 3 to 20 μm, and 75 to 250 parts are added to the binder. It is estimated that the latex precipitation is still the consumer of aluminum hydroxide in the future.

5. the application of polyvinyl chloride The field of aluminum hydroxide research in thermoplastic is polyvinyl chloride. Aluminum hydroxide can be easily incorporated into plasticized PVC in place of calcium carbonate filler. There are two ways to achieve high standards of flame retardancy: one is the combination of aluminum hydroxide and phosphorus carboxylate plasticizer, the other is the combination of aluminum hydroxide and zinc borate, these formulations have been applied to PVC wire in the cable material. The addition of aluminum hydroxide to hard polyvinyl chloride is mainly used to eliminate smoke.

6. Applications in thermoplastics such as polyethylene, polystyrene, ABS, etc. Aluminum hydroxide has been used in calcium-plastic boards for flame retardant decoration, and good results have been achieved. However, in these thermoplastics, the addition amount of aluminum hydroxide alone must reach more than 60% to show a certain flame retardancy, and the impact strength of the plastic will be seriously affected at this time. So far the application of aluminum hydroxide in these thermoplastics is still the subject of continued research.

7. Application in synthetic rubber Aluminum hydroxide in synthetic rubber such as styrene-butadiene rubber and neoprene makes a good flame retardant, such as flame retardant cable sheath formula: 100 parts of neoprene, 70 parts of clay parts, calcium carbonate 30 parts, aluminum hydroxide 100 parts, zinc borate 15 parts, antimony trioxide 10 parts, zinc oxide 5 parts, magnesium oxide 4 parts, isocyanurate 5 parts, Na-220.5 parts, stearin 2 parts acid. The obtained product has an oxygen index of 50 and excellent vertical and horizontal flammability.
